The Rude Mechanicals Theater Ensemble, June 2014. This original piece written by Elaine Allen explored Irish folklore, particularly surrounding the Fairies who steal children and put a Changling in their place. I was very excited about some of the pieces that were built for this show, and used them for several photo shoots later on.
The Fairy Cloak was inspired by W.B. Yeats’ poem, “The Stolen Child”. It is a sort of sampler of vintage and original embroidery pieces. The text incorporated on the cloak is–
Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild, With a fairy hand in hand, For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand!
